Hello! My name is Wendy, and I'm from South Africa. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and have lived in Holland and Greece. I currently reside in Southern California—about 3 miles away from Disneyland. I graduated from Chapman University in 2004 with a BFA in Graphic Design. In 2006 I designed and coauthored my first book, Caffeine for the Creative Mind. In 2009 my second book, Caffeine for the Creative Team was published, and I've had the honor of speaking about creativity for a number of years at the HOW Design Conference.

Although most consider me a "graphic designer", I really like to think of myself as more of a creative problem solver. I believe that ideas are the currency of today's world, and I enjoy working on projects that require both bigger-picture problem solving as well as the design work required to execute the solutions to these problems.

You should follow me on Twitter. I tweet a lot about design and creativity with the occasional cute cat thrown in the mix.

So you might be asking yourself, “WTH is a ‘lollologist’”? I created this word for myself a few years ago and define it as the study of lols and their effect on society.

I believe that laughter is a gateway for human connection. I’ve seen CEOs and interns bond over a good lunchtime lol. I’ve also seen someone’s mood and attitude transform within a couple of minutes after having a good laugh. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins which lowers stress levels thereby making people happier.

Funny is playful and memorable. It’s something that everyone (except for this guy) enjoys. It helps to bond teams and enhances teamwork. This is why I continue to collect and share lols every day.
